Alex du Toit Room

This large room, of approximate dimensions 9 metres x 6 metres, is sparsely furnished.

At present it is used on weekday evenings after 17h30; and by drama and dance groups over the weekends.

It holds a very large mirror, mounted on castors, which is useful for training students of the performing arts.

For a schedule of occupation of the Athenaeum’s smaller rooms (drawing-rooms, boardroom and Alex du Toit room) for the remainder of 2020 please click here.

The room is named after the distinguished geologist Alex du Toit, one of the pioneers of South African geological science and an important contributor to the theory of plate tectonics.  His portrait is displayed on the wall.
